  Fish Stocks Assessed

The fish in the holding net are barbel from the River Kennet, on this occasion they were caught using electro-fishing techniques. They were caught and rested then chosen separated by sex. Those chosen were then used as broodstock; these fish were strong and healthy and have since produced many young barbel for restocking purposes.

Fish population surveys can provide a fishery manager with valuable information regarding the volumes and quality of current fish stocks. This information is especially critical if management are considering a re-stocking programme. A range of seine nets, High Pulse & Smooth DC electro-fishing kit, various traps and fyke nets plus fish holding cages are at our disposal and all used by professional and experienced operators in any weather conditions.

We can also organise discharge consents through the EA, supply and operate large diesel water pumps for complete drain downs, the ultimate fish survey and/or removal. If you have fish that need catching, we will have the solution.

                Large bag of Bream
The picture on the right shows a large bag of 3-6lb bream, nearly 800lbs in one sweep from the famous southern day ticket water, Broadlands Lake. These fish were transferred to their nearby match lake.
