All
lakes and ponds are different and each should therefore be approached
accordingly. The lake pictured here is approx 2 acres in size and
has very high volumes of ornamental wild fowl which excrete large
amounts of waste into the water.

This
excess waste nutrient causes severe algal blooms each year. Unfortunately
the lake had no aquatic plants to compete for the nutrient, had no
planting sustrate and was also lined with butyl.

On this occasion
hydroponics was the answer, i.e. the plants are suspended from the
margin wall whilst they draw nutrients directly from the water as
opposed to substrate. |
