The Requirement: -
The client already had one large lake and two sizeable ponds on the estate but also required a purpose built lake suitable for native coarse fish with the capability of being drained down on occasion for fish stock maintenance purposes.
Solution: -
A pond was designed which could be drained via a stand pipe system and located lower on the land which incorporated the overflow water from the spring fed main pond. We also installed French land drainage systems in the new pond surrounding slopes and directed the water to the new pond thereby maximising water input. This had the added benefit to the client of drying out the surrounding land allowing vehicle access where before they were bogged and needed digging out. The pond was designed and built with graded margins and a flat bottom to facilitate ease of seine netting and high catch results.
