The Problem: -
The lake in question is a lake used by Future Fisheries Ltd to produce stunning carp of the Italian gene strain. On one occasion a few years ago whilst planning to harvest the lake we brought in a 6” diesel driven water pump that would ordinarily have brought the lake water level down fairly quickly, however it began to rain and did not stop! More water from surrounding catchment entered the lake at a faster pace than the pump could pump it out and the water level increased instead of decreasing. We had no choice but turn the pump off and net the lake with a higher than usual volume of water, we only caught half the fish we knew were present and had to do it all again before spring.
Solution: -
Design and install a monk that will facilitate harvesting the lake without effort. A wire mesh grill is placed over the from to stop fish washing over the monk boards when pulled then the top level of boards are removed allowing the water to flow out through the pipes running through the dam. The lake water level can now be taken down in increments to only 750mm if required.
