Decked structures can add a new dimension to a water body and offer a level area for angling. Alternatively a platform next to the lake with tables and comfortable chairs to relax in and soak up the tranquillity of being so near to the water can add much to the enjoyment of being near water.
Decked walkways can provide access to shallow marshy boggy areas of water bodies that are generally unreachable and potentially dangerous to traverse even with chest waders.
Materials need not be limiting these days, pressure treated soft wood will last for a great many years in water and hardwoods such as oak will last even longer. Steel can also be used to create platforms and now various coloured re-cycled plastics can be used with great effect and produced to look exactly like timber.
